My Review:Of all the horsey books I have ever read, this series just about takes the cake. The adventures of the wild black stallion are thrilling, dangerous, and captivating all in the same breath. Alec Ramsey demonstrates unyielding love and devotion for his horse, and displays enormous courage under all odds.

Pros:
This series contains a lot of action and suspense, just about guaranteed to hold any reader captivated. The characters show a tremendous display of courage, responsibility, and fairness. It also has stunning descriptions of landscape, and the beauty of horses.
Cons:
There is a bit of violence in the books, and some killing, in wars between the 'goodies' and 'baddies' of desert tribes. Some horses are hurt when broken in, and others have mean streaks that have to be broken out of them, which isn't exactly cruel, but some readers may prefer not to read that content.

I was wondering about the rest of the books in the series. My daughter and I are enjoying reading the first in the series, but I was a little concerned after scanning through the summaries of the future books, with horses with names like Satan and it appears alot more evil in the books. Do you know any of the future books in the series? Thank you,Sherid
I posted this review some years ago when I was quite young, and listed the entire series without having read them all. I still haven't completed reading them, however I can understand your concern about the horse named Satan. I did read up as far as that horse, and from what I recall, the only reference to it was that he was so nasty, Alec named him that and I think it was meant to rhyme with Shetan (SHET-ARN, SAH-TARN). I don't believe any inherent evilness was tied to the books as a result. :) I hope that helps somehow!
